Starting this Sunday, March 4th, we will now be open every Sunday through the rest of the year. Our hours will be from 11am to 5pm. We once again look forward to seeing our "Sunday regulars"!

We are now accepting spring fashions for consignment. Keep in mind this means capris, tees, light jackets, linens, etc... So far, we have been receiving many beautiful spring items...linens from Loft, silks from Talbots, amazing Anthropologie and classy Coach bags.

At Uptown Attic we are starting to think spring.....consignments that is. Starting this month through the month of March we will be taking your spring fashions for consignment. Spring fashion means anything that will comfortably transition you out of the cold and into the warm. Linens, cottons, capris, tees, etc... January is a good month for cleaning out and reorganizing to make room for all of the new gifts you received over the holidays. So, as you are going along, THINK SPRING and then THINK UPTOWN ATTIC!

During the entire month of December, consignors will save an additional 10% off of their purchase when they use their credit to shop in-store. (This includes the 15% consignor discount). Uptown Attic is now accepting Halloween costumes for all ages and sizes. Why pay full price for a costume that you are only going to wear one time?? Consignment is a great way to recycle your previous years Halloween costumes! So far this season we have sold a bumble bee, monkey and pumpkin. And, still waiting for new owners,... a tiger, ladybug, Spiderman, black cat and princess. Now is the time to bring them in. October 31st. will be here BOOfore you know it!

BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT... A SUCCESS....!!

We had another successful "Back to School Event" on Aug. 25th. and I would like to thank everyone who came out and participated by bringing in their new or gently used supplies. Here is a list of the items that were so generously donated:

2 backpacks, 5 packs of pens, 5 packs of pencils, 1 pack of highlighters, 14 folders, 3 packs of loose leaf paper, 6 composition notebooks, 10 binders, 8 notebooks, 1 five-subject notebook, 1 set of dividers, 4 packs of glue sticks, 1 three-subject notebook, 1 pack of pencil grips, 2 memo pads, 4 book covers, 1 pack of sticky notes, 1 dictionary, 1 box of tape, 1 box of crayons, 1 pack of index cards, 1 pencil sharpener & 1 encyclopedia...!!

All items were brought to Family of New Paltz to be distributed to the children going back to school this year. A+ everyone!!!

ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT....

It's time again for our annual "BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT"!! Each year around this time, we think about how the children are finishing up their summer vacations, hopefully their summer homework and preparing to head-off to a new year of school. Many will go back with new clothes and school supplies and, unfortunately, many will go back without new clothes and no school supplies. This is where we come in.

On Thursday, August 25th. from 5pm to 8pm, please join us at UPTOWN ATTIC. We will be helping Family of New Paltz supply children in need with the necessary supplies to ensure a successful year for them. Please bring in any new or gently used school supplies and, in turn, you will receive 30% off of the entire store!
Yes... everything in the store will be 30% off for you just for giving a few
needed school supplies. Getting a great bargain always feels good and
so does giving back.

3rd. Annual Gardiner Cupcake Festival

Prom season 2011

This was our 3rd prom season at Uptown Attic and I found that with each year our prom dress sales increase. Which, I guess, makes good sense. Definitely "good sense" for our prom customers. Year after year, I find that more girls are realizing the value of purchasing a gown from a consignment shop. Value in the way that they will be wearing a stunning gown that no one else will have on, something so unique and high-end another girl could not possibly afford and, not to mention, a price that makes Mom and Dad smile. With this they can still afford to have their manis & pedis, up-dos and some extra cash in their purses for that special night. As a store owner, I am thrilled when a girl finds a gown she is so excited about and then fits her like a glove. I get excited right along with her and feel proud to have played a small part in a big memory. Congratulations to all my "Prom Queens"! Here's looking forward to season 4!!

Beautiful Baubles....

Lately it seems that jewelry is being consigned by the bag fulls! Our case is bursting with so many beautiful and unique pieces. I absolutely love the jewelry that is brought to Uptown Attic and feel great thanks and pride for being entrusted with these precious gems. From Swarovski crystals to precious stones and 14K to sterling silver....so many of these pieces come with stories. Some have been purchased on a trip overseas, some being passed on from a long-gone relative or simply being handcrafted by a young girl attempting to try-out her business sense. The one story that most pieces have is common is that their previous owners wish their jewelry be purchased by someone who falls in love with it and finds true enjoyment in the piece. So, if you have been searching for that little something special, stop in and take a look even if your just in the market to admire.

WE ARE TWO YEARS OLD TODAY!!

It was two years ago that Uptown Attic opened it's doors. Time sure does fly... I remember walking into the store on March 9, 2009 and feeling as if it was my first day at a new school. Both exciting and uncomfortable. I created the store, yet it felt so strange to me. Wondering who I would meet, if I would fit in and would they like what they saw?

Well, two years have gone by and Uptown Attic is still here. Full of great energy, beautiful items and many happy and friendly faces. I have long surpassed the strange feeling of that first day and have enjoyed meeting so many wonderful customers and consignors. With almost 700 consignors and two years under my belt, I feel blessed to "fit in" and be so supported.

WHAT'S NEW FOR SPRING...

As I was recently browsing the Internet, I came across the latest fashion ideas and colors for the upcoming spring season. Much to my surprise, the hot color for this spring is bright orange. Now a couple of weeks ago, before I viewed any of these articles, I decided to display the store with what I thought was the best bright orange pieces Uptown Attic had to offer. Not for a particular reason, except that I thought the color was great. Why should this color be saved for the fall season? So, how surprised was I to see that, after reading the articles, I really am onto something! Here are some shots of my displays of bright orange for the spring season. After all of this drab weather, put on springs new "cheer-you-up" color!!

I attended a wonderful event at New Paltz High School this evening called "Coffee House". This is where some very talented students get the privilege to show off their superb talents in playing a musical instrument, singing or whatever they fancy. The cafeteria was staged in a relaxed setting and we enjoyed some amazing music! Some of which I'm sure is to be famous one day. I did however, pass a sign that said "Snowball Dance" March 4th. I then realized that I better get the news out quickly! Prom season is fast approaching and Uptown Attic is now accepting prom and/or dance dresses. Please remember that your previously loved dresses must be cleaned and in perfect condition to be taken on consignment. It's time to pass those high school memories along..... :)

Welcome to the very first post of "Uptown Updates". The intention of these posts is to keep both the consignors and customers updated to the current happenings at Uptown Attic. Whether we have a special event, current sales, unique items that have newly arrived or anything worthy of a post, will be posted.
